Presumed first printing of the first edition. Printed in the USA at the Princeton University Press. Black buckram binding, with crisp gilt-stamped design to the front board and lettering to the spine. Gently rubbed and rather clean binding. Moderately bumped spine head and tail, and with fairly sharp corners. Text block firmly bound in. 9 x 6 inches. With xxiii and 106 numbered pages of text, and with 174 B&W figures interspersed throughout. Also with a pull-out map opposite the last page. Previous owner name and date in a light ink hand to the front FEP. Faint evidence of light pencil erasures might be found here and there in the book's pages, trivial. Else very presentable and clean internally. There is no dust jacket present. A Very Good copy.
