Co-published by O. Harrassowitz, Leipzig. Volume 6 of Skrifter utgivna av Svenska institutet. This is the text volume only from a two-volume set. With CCLVI and 516 numbered pages, and with 43 B&W figures. Text printed by Håkan Ohlsson, Lund. With unstated limitation but almost certainly no more than 500 copies printed in the first edition. Principal text in English, with secondary text in German and Latin. Original plain paper wrappers in a soft gray-brown color, with fairly crisp black-stamped lettering to the front wrapper and to the spine. Spine perishing at the top inch and the bottom half-inch, but the wrappers remain largely intact. Moderate spine lean to the text block. Minor blemishes to the wrappers but on the whole clean and presentable. 12 x 9 inches. Deckled fore- and bottom edges to a handsome effect. Scarcely any age toning to the pages. The book is very clean, inside and out, except as noted. Errata slip laid in. A Very Good Minus copy. Very scarce in any condition. Note: the Plates volume contained 168 plates in a softcover portfolio. The plates were sold separately by the Swedish Institute of Rome. Arvid Andrén [1902-1999] was a scholar, teacher, humanist and poet. Architectural Terracottas from Etrusco-Italic Temples constitutes his PhD dissertation. A highly ambitious and comprehensive work, it is still a main resource in the field of Classical archaeology and is used as a reference tool by scholars and students all over the world. In addition to his important scholarship, he shared his love of Rome and ancient Italy with students and colleagues as Director of the Swedish Institute in Rome. His collection of Etruscan and Roman antiquities is now in the Museum of Cultural History in Oslo, and is in the process of publication.
