Printed in Great Britain at the University Press Oxford by Charles Batey, Printer to the University. NOT ex-library. Handsome cinnamon brown cloth bindings, with crisp brown-stamped lettering to front boards and to the spines. Also with decorative device to the front boards. Moderately bumped spine heads and tails, with fairly sharp corners, although there is mild abrasion to the top corners of the text volume. just a hint of soiling to the bindings. 12 x 9.75 inches. Text blocks firmly bound in. Top edges tinted mustard. The text volume with 351 numbered pages. The plates volume with 6 numbered pages followed by 92 full-page B&W plates, almost all of which have a corresponding page detailing each item depicted in each plate. All plates on heavy semi-glossy stock. Plates include archival photos and drawings. Plate 87 with a few notes in a light pencil hand. Slight age-toning around all page edges, very minor. Small, light fingering mark to half title page of plates volume. Else both volumes exceptionally clean and quite tight. Very gently read. No dust jackets are present. A Very Good pair of volumes.
