This is a Spanish language publlication; it is not in English. This is NOT an ex library book. This is Volume One only; however there is no evidence of any subsequent volumes ever having been published. Purple leatherette spine with purple textured paper hardboards. Note that the spine has perished. For all practical purposes the book is disbound though at some point in time the boards were reattached from the inside using red bookbinding tape. The front board with black-stamped lettering and design. Both boards are sunned along the top. 15.75 x 12 inches. Despite the virtually disbound state of the book the text block itself retains its integrity. With li and 495 numbered pages. With 106 (cvi) full-page plates (láminas), as called for. Note that Plate XLVII actually consists of two full-page sheets. Many of the plates are full-color. Also with numerous B&W figures throughout. This is a presentation copy from the authors, with their inscription and signatures in a neat ink hand to the top of the half title page. With the purple oval publisher´s [or censor's?] stamp to the half title page. The full title page with a vertical semi-crease. Two pages found with marginal fingering marks: p. xxxiii and the reverse side of Plate XII. Plate LI, mysteriously, has a clean blue line running diagonally across the page. Else a very clean volume, and rather tight. Respectfully read. No dust jacket [as issued?]. Lacking the slipcase. Down-graded to a Good Plus copy on account of the disrepair of the binding. This is an exhaustive study and a stunning achievement, notable for the wealth of textual detail, the pictorial documentation, and the overall quality of the scholarship. With thanks to Baltimore Books for the following: "Landmark study of pre-Columbian archaeological discoveries in Chaco-Santiagueña, northwest of Melero, and northeast of Cordoba in western Argentina. The Wagner brothers made several trips to the region beginning in 1927, to discover vast amounts of remains (mostly polychrome earthenware and extensive stone and bone carvings) from past civilizations which had never before been documented."
