Medium gray buckram binding, with crisp gilt-stamped round floral design to the front board and with fairly crisp gilt-stamped lettering to the sunned spine. Light rubbing/scratching to the rear board, else a clean binding. Moderate bumping and light abrasion to the spine head and tail, and slight rubbing to the gently bumped corners. Front joint tender but holding nicely. Text block remains firmly bound in. 11.25 x 9 inches. xxix and 155 numbered pages of text, plus unnumbered pages of plates. With 76 plates, the first 24 of which are in color, the remainder in B&W. Heavy coated stock for the plates. A number of the plates are fold-out. All plates are preceded by tissue guards, the guards with lettering describing the various plates. Almost all the guards are pristine. The text pages are somewhat age-yellowed but not at all brittle. Else a clean copy, and fairly tight. Gently read. A Good Plus copy. Somewhat scarce. A heavy book. Chapter XV is a valuable resource on marks and includes B&W illustrations of various marks, including reign names, Ming emperors, hall-marks, potters' names, and marks of commendation.
