No. 243 of a limited edition of 750 copies numbered and signed by the artist in a neat ink hand on the colophon page. Preface by Christopher Morley dated July 1936 and with his facsimile signature. Set up, printed and bound at the Country Life Press, Garden City, NY. The paper used is an all rag Strathmore Permanent Book. This edition, set in 10 pt. Baskerville monotype, was designed by A. P. Tedesco. Contemporary Oxford blue buckram binding. Both front boards with small blind-stamped design of the Globe Theatre and the initials WS. The spines with ivory vellum labels with gilt-stamped lettering. Overall very clean bindings, with minor scuffing and rubbing to the rear boards. Virtually unbumped spine heads and tails, and with fairly sharp corners. Text blocks firmly bound in. 12.5 x 9.5 inches. Exceptionally clean pastedowns and FEPs, just slight offsetting. T.E.G. Fore- and bottom page edges deckled to a handsome effect. With xviii, 779, viii and 781-1527 numbered pages of text. Each volume with a three-color frontispiece. Vol. I with 22 full-page B&W plates, Vol. II with 16 full-page B&W plates. The plates appear very clean. Apart from a light thumbing mark observed to a very few margins, a very clean set of volumes. Gently read. Lacking the slipcase. A Very Good copy. Especially desirable on account of the Rockwell Kent plates and apparent signature.
