Full-pictorial wrappers, lightly soiled but uncreased and with fairly sharp corners. 10 x 7 inches. Approximately 26 unnumbered pages of text and 27 unnumbered pages of B&W plates. A Very Good copy. Chu Ta [circa 1626-1705], a master of Individualistic and Eccentric painting, was a giant among his contemporaries. He created distinctive kinds of pictorial calligraphy reflecting an intensely personal quality of vision. Much of his life is as mysterious and undocumented as that of the Japanese ukiyo-e artist Sharaku.
