Preface dated November 1949. Presumed printed and bound in Japan. Purple buckram binding, with crisp gilt-stamped lettering to the spine. 10 x 7.25 inches. Unbumped spine head and tail, with sharp corners. Text block firmly bound in. Handsome map pastedowns. With 120 numbered pages of text in English and with 142 numbered pages of text in Japanese. All text interspersed with small B&W illustrations. An immensely clean copy, inside and out, and quite tight. Certainly unread. Attractive plain manila-paper DJ with black lettering, the DJ not price-clipped. A Near Fine copy in a Very Good Minus DJ. With publisher's inserts in English and in Japanese slipped in. These documents reflect a Japanese perspective on why Japan entered WWII against the USA and underscore that at the time of publication of this book in 1949 Japan was still occupied by the US military.
