Dies ist nicht eine zweisprachige Ausgabe. Text in Deutsch, nicht in Englisch. Erste Ausgabe. This is not a bilingual edition. Text in German only, not in English. First edition. A limited and signed edition of 750 copies, this is the rare leaf edition of 75 copies only. Designated no. 62 on the colophon page, in a brown ink hand, and signed in the same neat ink hand by the author. Printed and presumed bound in Germany. Brown cloth binding, with crisp gilt-stamped mushroom design to the front board and the same design to the spine along with crisp gilt-stamped lettering. Unbumped spine head, and with very sharp corners. Note that the spine tail has a pronouced bump but it is a minor cosmetic concern and in no way affects the integrity either of the binding or the text block. Indeed the entire binding, including the bumped portion, is impressively clean, and the text block is firmly bound in. The lower left corner of the first several pages compressed somewhat from the bump. 11.75 x 8.5 inches. With xii and 13 - 525 numbered pages, and with numerous plates, many full-page and all in color. 75 of the 750 copies were issued with an original leaf plate from either Buillard’s Champignons de la France (1780-1809) or Schaeffer’s Abbildungen der Schwamme. Placed in loose at the front is an original plate from Champignons de la France. Specifically it is Plate 226, Agaricus petalodes, from that edition. The plate is colored in shades of brown, deep eggplant, and light mustard yellow. Moderate foxing to the plate. The leaf plate is tipped in along the top of the front pastedown and is protected by a fold-over flap. Lovely silk-satin page marker ribbon. This book either unread or very gently read. No remainder marks. An immensely clean copy. Lovely pictorial DJ in charcoal and black lettering and with a depiction of a mushroom cluster in shades of brown to the front, all against an eggshell-colored ground. Consistent with the bump to the spine tail of the book there is a slight bump to the spine tail of the DJ, with slight rippling but no soiling. Indeed the entire DJ is impressively clean. DJ is unclipped. The DJ with a lovely, new, clear Mylar protector. On account of the tail bump issue, downgraded from Fine/Fine to a Near Fine copy in a Near Fine DJ. Slipped in is an 8-page publisher's prospectus in English with instructions to accessing the German bibliographic catalogue.
