First printing, first edition, 1913. Main text printed by William Brendon and Son, Plymouth, England. Adverts section printed by Morrison and Gibb, Edinburgh. Red buckram binding, with fairly crisp gilt-stamped lettering to the front board and to the spine. 7.5 x 5 inches. The binding is exceptionally clean. Moderate bumping and abrading at the spine head and tail, with fairly sharp corners. Spine very lightly and evenly sunnned. The text block is firmly bound in. Author's preface dated April 1913. With x and 220 numbered pages of text, plus 31 numbered pages of publisher's adverts, the adverts preface dated July 1913. Also with 80 small diagrams and line drawings, and with 23 B&W photos, several of which are full page and all on semi-glossy stock. The frontispiece with pristine tissue guard present. Two small ink stamps stating "sample" to the title page. Minor rippling to the bottom corner of the last adverts page. Previous owner name and address in small, neat ink hand to the upper corner of the rear pastedown. Almost imperceptible age-yellowing of the pages. Else a very clean copy. There is no dust jacket present. A Good Plus copy. Rarely encountered. Scarce in any condition. Written by Alfred Ernest Crawley, 1869 - 1924, this is a treatise on the history, make-up and behavior in flight of balls as used in all ball-games.
