Printed in the USA by the Southworth Press, Portland, Maine. Blue buckram binding, with crisp gilt-stamped lettering to the spine. 10 x 7 inches. The binding is quite clean. Generally unbumped spine head and tail, with sharp corners. The text block is firmly bound in. With xi and 358 numbered pages of text, and with numerous B&W photogravures of ships and sea captains, the plates on semi-glossy stock. Previous owner name and address in large ink hand to the front FEP. Offsetting to the half-title page. One or two pages with a foxing spot in the fore-edge margin. Else a clean copy. In the original, pictorial DJ, black lettering over blue background. Not price-clipped. The entire top edge of the DJ crumpled about 1/4 inch and with small chips at the spine head. Age toning/soiling along the spine. A Very Good copy in a Good Minus DJ.
