Translated by Horace Walpole. Printed in Nijmegen, Holland by G. J. Thieme. This edition was limited to 1,000 copies for Great Britain set in Venetian Old Style monotype, and impressed upon Dutch Pannekoek pure rag paper. 8.5 x 6 inches. Bound by Riviere & Son, London, (binder's stamp to front free-endpaper), in polished blue calf, with gilt rules to the boards, elaborate gilt-stamped design to the hubbed spine, the spine with two gilt-lettered morocco labels. The blue of the spine is gently and evenly sun-faded. The boards are thick and the leather of the entire binding is smooth and supple and generally not dried out. Unbumped spine head and tail. The corners are sharp except that the upper front corner has a minor bump. The text block is bound in with exceptional sturdiness. A.E.G. Decorative pastedowns and FEPs; sky blue patterned paper. With viii and 230 numbered pages. With 8 tipped-in, B&W full-page woodcuts, all in fine shape and each with a pristine tissue guard. Also with B&W headband illustrations. An impressively clean copy, and quite tight. Likely unread. A Near Fine copy. Somewhat rare and hard to find, at least in this condition.
