This is a consecutive run of the first seven volumes of the Field Museum of Natural History Botanical Series, v. 22, no. 4; v. 22, no. 5; v. 23, no. 1-5, publication nos. 480, 482, 524, 549, 556, 565, 609. Published serially between September 30, 1940 and October 22, 1947. Printed and bound in the USA. 9.25 x 6.25 inches. Light grayish-beige plain wrappers, with black-stamped lettering to the front wrappers. Generally unbumped spine heads and tails, and either unbumped or gently bumped corners. Numbered pages include: 221-321, 325-396, 3-28, 31-109, 113-150, 153-191and 195-265. These are not ex=library books, except that Vol. VII has an ex -ibrary stamp to the front wrapper. Else the booksare very clean, inside and out. Believed largely unread, as many of the pages remain unopened. The text blocks are solidly attached to the wrappers. Moderate shelf life. No remainder marks. A Very Good set of copies. Very scarce in any condition. Paul Standley (1884-1963) was the curator of the Herbarium, Department of Botany, Field Muserum. Julian Steyermark (1909-1988) was the assistant curator there.
