Stated first edition, 1974. Printed and bound in Japan. Dark brown cloth binding, with crisp orange- and black-stamped lettering. 10.25 x 7.25 inches. Unbumped spine head and tail, with sharp corners. Text block firmly bound in. With 239 numbered pages interspersed with 18 color plates and 253 B&W illustrations. An exceptionally clean copy, and quite tight. Very gently read, if read at all. Attractive full-pictorial DJ, unclipped and with minor rubbing. A Near Fine copy in a Near Fine DJ. Shoji Hamada [1894-1978] was designated a National Living Treasure for his accomplishments in giving new life and impetus to the techniques of the traditional Japanese potter.
