German language edition. Printed in Leipzig, Germany. 11.5 x 8 inches. Gorgeous custom binding, probably made uniquely for this copy, in full vellum on thick boards. Art Deco design in gilt to both boards and to spine, the front board with the artist's name appearing vertically in stylized letters outlined in gilt and filled with a salmon pink color. Unbumped spine tail and with sharp corners. Light browning or staining at the upper edges of both boards. Light soiling and rubbing here and there to the binding but overall a most attractive binding approaching fine condition. A.E.G. Gorgeous decorative pastedowns in a design reminiscent of close-repeat art nouveau or arts and crafts wallpaper. With 147 numbered pages of text interspersed with 6 full-page color print reproductions, with tissue guards over-stamped with identifying information as to each print. The text section followed by approximately 155 monochrome full-page plates, all on medium weight, coated stock. Please note that many of the plate pages are stuck together close to the upper spine, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch, so that those pages cannot be quite fully opened but nearly so. An exceptionally clean copy, inside and out. A Near Fine copy.
