Ce n'est pas une édition bilingue. Texte en français uniquement, pas en anglais. This is not a bilingual edition. Text in French only, not in English. A lovely copy of a scarce auction catalogue for the Japanese print collection of Charles Gillot [1853-1903], sold April 15, 16, 18, and 19, 1904. Please note that this is volume two only. 13 x 10 inches. Originally issued in tan wrappers. Bound by Zaehnsdorf in brown half calf with gold lettering to the hubbed spine, and with aubergine buckram hardboards. Moderately rubbed, especially along the edges of the leather. Almost no wear to the spine head and tail. Evidence of a little former dryness along the gutters. Corners fairly sharp if lower corners somewhat abraded. Text block firmly bound in. Marbled paper pastedowns and FEPs. 158 numbered pages. Approximately 43 heliogravure plates on semi-glossy white stock and one fold-out print in stunning color. Plates in very good to excellent condition. Almost all plates with tissue guards. A very clean volume inside and out. A Very Good Minus copy. Scarce in any condition. From the private library of Herbert McLean Evans, with his initials in soft pencil to the front board. Evans [1882-1971] was a highly regarded U.S. anatomist and embryologist. He was an ardent collector of rare books and of Japanese ukiyo-e prints.
