A compilation of the author's Ryerson lectures delivered October and November 1936 at Yale University. Presumed published simultaneously in New York and London. Printed and bound in Great Britain. Charcoal gray buckram binding with crisp gilt-stamped lettering to the spine. Generally unbumped spine head and tail, and with fairly sharp corners. 10 x 7.25 inches. Text block firmly bound in. With xii and 209 numbered pages, and with 68 B&W photo plates, all full-page and all on glossy stock. Handsome bookplate of previous owner to the front pastedown; very small sticker of original bookseller to the rear pastedown. Else a very clean volume, and rather tight, with light evidence of shelf life. Gently read. No remainder marks. Neatly cut-up remnants of the original dust jacket slipped in. A Very Good Minus copy.
