Two volumes bound as one. Stated new edition, complete in one volume. Printed in London, England and presumed bound in England. 10 x 7.25 inches. Binding presumed not contemporary but rather early to 20th century. Bound by Hanbury Binders, 80 Coleman Street, London, E.C. Reddish-brown buckram binding, with elaborate gilt-stamped lettering and design to the front board, spine and rear board. Moderately bumped spine head and tail, and with moderately bumped corners. All edges gilt. With iv, 403 and 476 numbered pages. Numerous plates and illustrations throughout, including full-page B&W reproductions of steel engravings and with pull-out drawings and maps, some in color. Plates generally in very good condition, but note occasional brown spotting to some of the plates. Formerly tender hinges now reinforced with handsome library cloth tape. Ex libris label of previous owner to the front pastedown. No remainder marks. A Very Good Minus copy.
