Main text is in Japanese, with ancillary text in English. Printed and bound in Japan. Cinnamon-colored buckram binding with crisp gilt-stamped lettering to the spine. Exceptionally clean binding. Small folio, 12.5 x 10.25 inches. Generally unbumped spine head and tail, and with sharp corners. Text block firmly bound in. With color frontispiece, 101 numbered pages of text in Japanese, interspersed with numerous figures and 176 full-page plates, mostly in monochrome but several in color, the color plates tipped-in. The plates on medium-weight, matte stock. Also present at the back of the book, 35 pages of English language text, including preface, summary of text, list of plates and list of figures. Also present is a pristine fold-out illustrated table, with line drawings of various styles of archaic bronzes and placing them as to geography and era. The book with no remainder marks. Tiny sticker from previous bookseller neatly pasted to the front pastedown. The interior front hinge with a one-inch split at the base, a cosmetic issue only and not at all affecting the integrity of the binding or text block. Else a very clean copy, and quite tight. Very gently read. A Very Good Plus copy. Lacking the slipcase. All in all a lovely copy of an extremely scarce copy of a highly regarded scholarly work about archaic Chinese bronzes and jades.
