Il a été tiré à part de ces livre cent exemplaires numérotés sur papier du Japon. From the series, La vie et l'art Romantiques. Printed by Daniel Jacomet, Paris. This does not appear to be one of the 100 copies printed on Japan paper. Printed and bound in France. This book was originally issued in paperback format and was afterwards professionally cased. Chestnut brown buckram binding with gilt-stamped author and title to the spine. Exceptionally clean binding with slight rubbing here and there. 10.5 x 8.5 inches. Very gently bumped spine head and tail, and with moderately bumped corners. Handsomely deckled fore-edge and bottom-edge. Text block firmly bound in. With portrait of Daumier as the frontispiece, and 202 numbered pages of text, interspersed with drawings and illustrations, and with numerous full-page plates accompanied by detailed notes. Most of the plates are B&W but a few are in color: La Parade, Don Quichotte, La Loge. The plates on medium-weight, matte stock. No remainder marks. A very clean copy, and quite tight. Very gently read. A Very Good copy. All in all a lovely copy of a somewhat scarce work featuring paintings and lithographs by Daumier.
