Spine perishing at the top inch and the bottom half-inch, but the wrappers remain largely intact. Moderate spine lean to the text block. Note: the Plates volume contained 168 plates in a softcover portfolio. The plates were sold separately by the Swedish Institute of Rome. Arvid Andrén [1902-1999] was a scholar, teacher, humanist and poet. Architectural Terracottas from Etrusco-Italic Temples constitutes his PhD dissertation. A highly ambitious and comprehensive work, it is still a main resource in the field of Classical archaeology and is used as a reference tool by scholars and students all over the world. In addition to his important scholarship, he shared his love of Rome and ancient Italy with students and colleagues as Director of the Swedish Institute in Rome. His collection of Etruscan and Roman antiquities is now in the Museum of Cultural History in Oslo, and is in the process of publication.
