This exhibition was arranged for the Norton Gallery of Art, West Palm Beach, Florida, January 20 to March 1, 1950. Text in English, with no ancillary text in Chinese. NOT ex library. Printed and bound in NY. Beige cloth spine with crisp gilt-stamped lettering, and with turquoise paper hardboards with crisp gilt-stamped lettering and archaic design. 11 x 8.5 inches. A touch of bumping to the spine head and tail, and with sharp corners. Text block firmly bound in. With unnumbered pages including text and full-page plates. Featuring 60 (LX) plates in monochrome, all on medium-weight, matte stock. All items illustrated in the plates are accompanied by detailed commentary and citations. No remainder marks. A very clean copy, and rather tight. Very gently read. There is no DJ present. A Very Good Plus copy of a fairly scarce scholarly work on Chinese jades.

This is the third volume in a series of exhibitions which document China's artistic tradition. This exhibition contained objects which evoke the concept of ritual and belief. With xxiii plus 321 numbered pages, including numerous B&W plates, mostly full-page. Color frontisipiece showing a partial jade spectrum. Plate was tipped in and is now detached but remains pristine. Faint traces of pencil erasure near top of front pastedown and FEP. A very clean copy, and rather tight. Gently read. No remainder marks. With an intact pictorial dust jacket, not price-clipped. The plates on medium-weight, matte stock. Also present at the back of the book, 35 pages of English language text, including preface, summary of text, list of plates and list of figures. Also present is a pristine fold-out illustrated table, with line drawings of various styles of archaic bronzes and placing them as to geography and era. The book with no remainder marks. Tiny sticker from previous bookseller neatly pasted to the front pastedown. The interior front hinge with a one-inch split at the base, a cosmetic issue only and not at all affecting the integrity of the binding or text block. Else a very clean copy, and quite tight. Very gently read. A Very Good Plus copy. Lacking the slipcase. All in all a lovely copy of an extremely scarce copy of a highly regarded scholarly work about archaic Chinese bronzes and jades.
