Text in French, including program description. A ballet program for July 10 & 11, 1970, for the Ballet National Hollandaise performing at the Théatre de Beaulieu, Lausanne, Switzerland. The principal dancers are Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Noureyev. Attractive pictorial wrappers with just a hint of rubbing. Bound with two metal staples. Front wrapper features a charming photo of Fonteyn, looking far younger than her age, and a young Noureyev. Generally unbumped wrappers and with fairly sharp corners. A tad of edge-wear. Oblong, 8.5 x 11.75 inches. Wrappers plus 22 unnumbered pages, and with numerous B&W photo illustrations, some full page, and all on non-glossy stock, 1/4 inch tear at bottom of front wrapper, 1/4 inch tear at fore-edge of rear wrapper, both fairly trivial. A very clean copy of these ballet programs. Rated a Very Good copy.

Printed and bound in the USA. 10.25 x 6.75 inches. Dark blue buckram with fairly crisp gilt-stamped lettering and image to the front board and with somewhat faded lettering to the spine. Moderately bumped spine head and tail, with fairly sharp corners. Front hinge tender but text block remains firmly bound in. xvii and 227 numbered pages, including 92 full-page photographs of dancers. 6 of the photographs are in color. The color plates transferred to paper by the Beck Engraving Company, Philadelphia and the monochrome photographs were printed by Edward Stern & Company, Philadelphia. All plates on semi-glossy stock. Photographs include images of Maud Allan, Ruth St. Denis, and Anna Pavlowa, among others. Rear pastedown with the tiny sticker of original bookseller, Paul Elder & Co. Else a very clean copy, inside and out. No remainder marks. Gently read. There is no dust jacket present. A Very Good Minus copy. Genthe was a distinguished photographer perhaps best known for his images of San Francisco's Chinatown of old.

First printing of the first edition. Printed by Charles Whittingham and Griggs, London, and bound by the Chiswick Press, London. Preface dated April 1930. 11 x 8.75 inches. Tan buckram wrap-around spine, with fairly crisp gilt-stamped lettering to the spine, and beige paper hardboards. The buckram along the spine is mottled, merely a cosmetic issue. Moderately bumped spine tail, with pronounced bumping to the lower corners. Text block is firmly bound in. Top edge tinted a bright yellow. xviii and 153 numbered pages, including a frontispiece portrait of Violet Woodhouse playing her harpsichord, and with LXV monochrome plates, most of which are full-page. All pages, including text and plates, printed on eggshell-colored matte stock. A few very faint spots to a few of the text pages. Else a very clean copy, inside and out. No remainder marks. A Mylar sheet protects the binding. A Good Plus copy.

Slight and uniform age-yellowing of the pages, else an immensely clean copy. In the original, pictorial DJ, dark green lettering over cream background. Not price-clipped. Edge-wear along the entire top edge of the DJ and at the corners. Small chip at the DJ spine head. All in all a clean and presentable DJ. A Very Good Plus copy in a Very Good Minus DJ.

This book is in Danish, with secondary text in Latin. With facsimile pages from the 1687 edition. Published with an introduction and remarks by Godtfred Skjerne, his foreword dated May 1928. Printed and bound in Denmark. First and presumed only printing of this book. One of a limited edition of 250 copies only. 11.75 x 9 inches. Original plain paper wrappers. The wrappers are somewhat age-darkened but exceptionally clean. With title page reproduced on the front wrapper in black and red lettering. Virtually unbumped spine head. Gently bumped spine tail and lower corners. The wrapper is firmly attached to the text-block. The book contains xxxii and 400 numbered pages. Several B&W illustrations as well as numerous musical scores and notations and tables throughout. With fore- and bottom page edges deckled to a handsome effect. The book is exceptionally clean, inside and out. Certainly unread, as most pages are still unopened. A Very Good copy. Very scarce in any condition. One would be hard pressed to locate a finer copy.

Not to be confused with the work by the same author/editor entitled, A Companion to the Art of Fugue. The book here offered is the stated Edition in Open Score for the Use of Students. Undated but circa 1931. Presumed printed and bound in Great Britain. Bound in Oxford blue buckram, now somewhat faded overall, and with gilt-stamped lettering to the front board and to the spine. Gently bumped spine head and tail and corners. On the whole a very clean and presentable binding. 11.25 x 8.75 inches. Text block firmly bound in. With a two-page author's preface, a page of notes, a two-page Thematic Index, 127 numbered pages of open scores, and a page of addenda and corrigenda. Light age-spotting to the FEPs opposite the pastedowns. Else a very clean copy, inside and out, and still rather tight. Very gently read. A Very Good copy. Scarce in this early edition.
